Stag Weekends Play-Off - North Wales Vs South Wales

Zip Wire and white water rafting in the north and the beaches and nightlife of the south

With the Women's World Cup Finals coming to a close I thought we at the Stag Do Blog would have a playoff of our own, between the mighty North Wales and the incredible South Wales (Cardiff & Swansea).

Which destination would you choose for your one and only stag weekend?

FIRST GOAL - STAG DO ACTIVITIES

If you're looking to fill your stag weekend with epic adventures, activities so good you'll need a week in your bedroom to recover, Wales HAS to be your stag do destination of choice.

From the fastest Zip Line in the WORLD to the brilliant white water rafting sites, gorgeous gorges for canyoning and fast and furious motorised activities, Wales has it all.

However there must be a winner, and quite frankly North Wales thrashes South Wales in the stag do activity stakes!

North Wales is home to the fastest Zip Wire in the world (yes the WORLD), the longest zip line in Europe, incredible natural white water rafting sites, brilliant rage buggy tracks and when it comes to quad biking and treks North Wales is the daddy.

NORTH WALES IS THE WINNER (1-0)

Our North Wales stag do destinations guide has some brilliant facts and details.

SECOND GOAL - NIGHTLIFE

The Welsh are extremely famous for being very friendly and love to party and when going out in Cardiff or Swansea you will soon find this out.

In Cardiff you have the brilliant Cardiff Bay which is a great place to hang out for mid afternoon / evening drinks, you then have the clubs and pubs in the town centre and not forgetting the plentiful gentleman's clubs some stags love to frequent.

Swansea is equally as lively with loads of pubs, bars and clubs all along Wind Street. It may not be as big as Cardiff but what it lacks in size it makes up for with atmosphere.

In North Wales you have umm, hmmm - Chester?

OK Chester's in England but you'll find most stag parties don't go to North Wales for the nightlife, on the contrary, they go for the adventure and a place to chill out and not have to queue to get to the bar!

SOUTH WALES IS THE WINNER (1-1)

THIRD GOAL - WHERE TO STAY

You'll find plenty of choices of all sorts of accommodation; from Camping, Log Cabins and Bunk Houses to 3 and 4 star hotels in prime city centre locations.

Prices are generally cheaper in North Wales compared to Cardiff and Swansea.

If there's something going on in Cardiff like Speedway, Rugby or a concert with an A-Lister you will struggle to get availability or good rates in Cardiff.

DesignaVenture offers a very popular type of accommodation in North Wales which is called Rural Inns. This accommodation is very popular with their stag parties as it's rural, close to the activities and cheap - not all stag parties want to go clubbing would you believe!

In Cardiff there are brilliant hotels on the outskirts of this amazing city which include a free taxi into town (it's only 10 minutes) and the per person price is much cheaper than the city centre hotels.

However for the varied choice of accommodation on offer to stag parties, North Wales has clinched this one.

NORTH WALES IS THE WINNER (2-1)

FOURTH GOAL - GETTTING THERE & AROUND

The issue is, it depends on where you live. If you live North of Birmingham, North Wales will be the best destination to get to. If you live South of Birmingham then South Wales will be an easier drive or you can get a train straight to your destination.

If you have decided on North Wales we would highly recommend you bring your own cars or hire a minibus as it's rural and there aren't many train stations. If you decide to drive yourselves the roads are incredible, especially around Snowdonia, some of the scenery will take your breath away.

In my mind South Wales takes it as you can get a train straight into the centre of Cardiff or Swansea and you won't need much more transporting around, unless you've booked activities and cabs are cheap in South Wales.

SOUTH WALES IS THE WINNER (2-2)

WHO'S THE WINNER

So unfortunately it's a draw, both South and North Wales are equally excellent stag do destinations in their own right.

If you're looking for epic nightlife and city life then you can't go wrong with South Wales, mainly Cardiff and Swansea however, if you're looking for incredible activities and a chance to get away from it all and chill out with a cheap beer, North Wales will get your vote.

Good luck

M.
