Advice On Booking Your 2021 Stag Weekend

Let's get the hell out of lockdown, that's what we say... It's been a funny old time especially in the travel business:

Are we allowed to go on holiday?
What's the maximum group size I can have on my stag do?
Can I go abroad?
What happens if I my stag do gets cancelled due to Covid?

These questions and more are actually covered in our news post Covid Exit Road Map. We have also featured the governments road map.

Should I Book A Stag Do Abroad?

Last year really confirmed to us how the UK government worked with relation to foreign travel. If the UK government (FCO) states thats it's unsafe to travel to your specific destination, airlines, hotels and travel companies should offer you an alternative date or full refund. Your insurance will also becomes null and void.

So if you do book somewhere and then you can't go due to governments not allowing travel, you should not lose any money, you will just have the drama of rearranging somewhere in the UK.

You can just cut the drama for this year and book UK, however it does depend on how badly the stag wants to go abroad.

I do believe that a lot of countries will follow suit with Cyprus (today's news 05th March 2021) where you'll need some sort of proof to show that you've had the 2 vaccines, a vaccine passport will possibly be on the cards but not yet confirmed.

When booking with a tour operator or airline, check their online reviews, you can see a history of reviews dating back to last year's lockdown and see how that tour operator faired.

If they got slated get the hell out of dodge and DON'T book with them, if their reviews look pretty solid, then it's a safe bet booking with them.

DesignaVenture faired pretty impressively with not one negative review.

Should I hold off booking the UK, just in case?

I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you intend to go. The issue is a lot of people will not be going abroad this year and are booking in the UK which means lots of hotels, self catering and B&B accommodation is filling fast, it's going to be a bun fight to get in anywhere, a bit like July and August last year.

So if you intend to book a stag weekend for this year, get it booked and if you can't go due to Covid, providing you have booked through a reputable tour operator you'll get your money back.

Whatever you do, stay safe...

Good luck

M.
